Chairman of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, former Lagos State deputy governor, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi and Princess Sarah Sosan, have assured massive support from the riverine communities for the ruling party in the forthcoming general elections.
The duo based their argument on the ground that available records show that riverine communities are crowded with progressive – minded individuals, waving off the misconceptions that APC does not stand any chance in the said community.
The duo made the statement on Thursday at Irewe, a riverine community in Ojo Local Government.
The well attended the community’s joint wards meeting, was apparently to discuss its development.
Addressing the locals, Ojelabi said the various riverine communities in the council have former Lagos State governor Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to thank for his initiative in creating additions councils when he sway as governor.
He added that the initiative had a great impact on riverine communities in Ojo council, adding that there is no better time to reciprocate such kind gesture than now by pitching their tent with the party, and by extension, Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu’s presidential and governorship ambitions.
Ojelabi said :“If not for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that created additional local councils, Irewe and Taffi would have had only one councillor and only two supervisors; but now have two counsellors and four supervisors.
He continued: “We now have additional school, renovated health center, and it is on record that during my reign as the house of representatives member, we facilitated the connection of the riverine communities to the national grid making more communities have access to electricity.
“We have not started campaign yet, when it is time for campaign, we shall exhibit the achievements which distinguishes us from the others”.
Speaking earlier, Sosan, admonished the people to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Sosan described the choice of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC Presidential Candidate; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, APC Lagos gubernatorial candidate; Dr. Idiat Adebule, APC Lagos West Senatorial Candidate; Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi, APC Ojo Federal Constituency candidate; Hon. Segun Ege and Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, the Lagos candidates for Ojo constituency 1 and Ojo Constituency 2 respectively, as some of the candidates to beat.
In addition, the chairman of Ojo Local Government, Hon. Rausulu Idowu, assured the community of government’s continuous support for the people of the riverine communities.
While commending the intervention of the APC – led Government to riverine Communities, Pa Opeifa Samuel from ward i (Ishagira village) precisely apealed for more life impacting projects across the council’s riverine areas.
Highlights of the event include an interactive session with members of the community and distribution of support materials sponsored by Princess Sarah Sosan, OFR.
